Kayaks
-
The first kayaks were fashioned out of driftwood and animal skins by the natives of the Arctic regions and used for hunting. In fact, the name kayak means "hunter's boat." The Europeans converted them into pleasure boats well adapted for rivers and rapids.
Quessy, well known for his expertise in building high quality composite canoes, turned to a long-time professional kayak designer to come up with three models adapted for lakes and large rivers like the St-Lawrence for the longer models.
